Yesterday there was a pensive felling of sadness all around in our circles of social media & among indian friends at office. It was a sad moment when we tarnish the secular nature of our constitution in name of Citizenship Amendment bill. Though the feeling of melancholy was strong but there was a personal reason of joy at my home. It was the tenth Birthday of my little heart. A small gathering attended by few of mine & little ones friends. Her mother did all her generous efforts to match the food preferences of guests. The safra (Dastarkhwan) offered Lauki Kofta, Kadhi Pakoras, Matar paneer & veg Biryani along with Alu Gohst & Chicken Kadhai without any culinary discrimination. The veggies had no reservations in dining with non-veggies. Aarab & Ayan, the besties of little Hamza also showed up. The religion never creeped in these six years old kids. So was Daniya besties, one is Muslim & while other is Hindu.
- Here in adults who came from mixed faiths & few of them from our sibling neigbour (Pakistan), the discussions moved around the hate politics to Modi Ji vision of Naya Bharat. Away from home, these innocent kids had no idea about the directions where the country is heading. These are few line which we all had recited in our school days assembly. “India is my country and all Indians are my Brothers and Sisters. I love my country and I am proud of its rich and varied heritage. I shall always strive to be worthy of it”. Hope these lines of the pledge will remain contextual & true in future of these little stars.
