The close-grip seated cable row is one of the best exercises for improving back posture and growing back muscles, but many do it wrong. Often times i see people with the upper back rounded, chest sunk in, elbows flared. Not only have they made the exercise less efficient but they've also created a recipe for injury Here is how you do it: Lean over as you keep the natural alignment of your back and grab the V-bar handles. With your arms extended pull back until your torso is at a 90-degree angle from your legs. Your back should be slightly arched and your chest should be sticking out. You should be feeling a nice stretch on your lats as you hold the bar in front of you. This is the starting position of the exercise Keeping the torso stationary, pull the handles back towards your torso while keeping the arms close to it until you touch the abdominals. Breathe out as you perform that movement. At that point you should be squeezing your back muscles hard. Muscled worked: Seated Cable Rows emphasize muscles around the back including the lats, the erector spinae, rear delts, biceps, and forearm flexors. . #MythBusterMonday ... answer: FALSE ! You cannot change fat into muscle or the other way around! . I often hear a lot of people say they want to turn their fat into muscle. While for some it’s just a figure of speech, for others they believe that fat literally turns into muscle, and that is not the case. . Fat tissues and muscle tissues are completely different and serve different purposes in the body. Muscles are active tissues that are constantly working and burning calories. Whereas fat is a storage of excess energy; doesn’t really do much. Fat is mostly used to preserve warmth and extra padding on the body when you hit yourself, otherwise, it’s pretty useless. . Can you burn fat and build muscle at the same time ? Yes. It is difficult but definitely possible for all fitness levels but that’s a conversation for another day. More commonly, we focus on one aspect; either burning fat or building muscle. Building muscle however in turn burns fat; the more muscle you have the higher your metabolism is (usually). Losing fat and maintaining muscle is much more easy to do and it involves making sure you’re consuming enough protein #ProteinIsGod. . With my clients I do definitely try to build muscle and burn fat whenever we can and whenever they are cooperative with their diets πŸ™ƒπŸ™ƒπŸ™ƒ. But for most people sticking either side is usually best. Focus on burning fat first, then transition to building muscle while minimizing fat gain.

HAPPY MONDAY πŸ’ͺπŸ’ͺπŸ’ͺ Started the week with a back workout and did a PB on my rack pulls πŸ’₯ Impressed myself with a set of 8 reps on 70kg on my 4th set. That's 10kg up on last week. I don't know if you're the same, but I find coming back from a break mentally challenging. I get really impatient with myself because I'm acutely aware of the muscle i've lost and can't stand this 'fluffy' feeling while I do the gain muscle/lose body fat thing and get my whole routine going again. My protein and BCAAs are in storage too (I know, what a gumby) so I don't even have access to the usual supplements 😩Honestly, it just doesn't feel right lol. Anyway, I'm trying not to get ahead of myself. My main goals this week are regularity - min 3 weights sessions, increase protein intake and increase poundage on big muscle groups.
