Let's talk live shows. (TLDR: follow the link in my bio to find the @bandsintown tracker if you’re keen to see me play live in your town!) Rather than scurrying around in the darkness trying to arrange a live element to Arrays and then surprising you with it, I want to involve you in the process of getting this aspect of the project up and running. I firmly believe that we're in this together.
I absolutely see a live element to Arrays developing in the future of this project, and I'm pretty excited about it. Playing live is about as exciting as it gets for a lot of musicians, including myself.
I've definitely got something special in mind for Arrays live shows, too.
Real talk though, for me to achieve that vision, there is a lot of work ahead of me: - 100's (maybe 1000's) of hours of practice
- Money for sound tech, lights and advertising
- Sourcing band members (and they might want to get paid too)
- The myriad arrangements required for out of town shows
- And much more!
I love all of this stuff of course. I'm low key obsessed with the music industry and get way too much joy out of all of the little details of developing all facets of my projects. Like, it might be a problem. I should probably get help.
But here's the thing; there is not much more soul crushing than going to all of this effort, investing so much time, energy and money, only to put on a show and find that hardly anybody turned up.
Getting to the heart of the issue, there are two options as I see it:
1. I could invest less, and start small for the time being.
2. I could go BIG, get the band, the lights, the venue, the set list and play a proper goddamn rock show from the outset.
I'm favouring option 2, personally. BUT the thing about option 2 is, I need to know that people are going to turn up.
Here's where you come in! Bandsintown has a tracker that provides data on geographical location (your city, not your house address). By tracking my profile, YOU get kept up to date with any Arrays live shows in your area, and *I* get to see where the demand is for Arrays to play a show.
If you're keen to see this project go live, follow that tracker. Let’s get it started.
