I did it!!!! Sooo after almost 2 years of trying I finally can do a straddle up with straight arms :). I learned so much about my body during these endless attempts - first to jump to the bent arms straddle, then to straighten my legs, and finally to do this... something. I had to understand I need to share the work between all parts of my spine. First to tuck the pelvis, then to pull with the abs, and finally to discover and "solve" my main problem - one of the shoulder blade sticking out, winging. I have scoliosis, and never really paid too much attention on the "loose scapula", but during this particular movement my "good" arm seemed to carry all the weight up. Too much for a poor little arm. Willingly pushing my blade into it's place worked for me. Struggling with your dumbbell bench press? Most people do... Try this instead (if you can do full press ups). . . You want to resemble an "arrow" with your body instead of a "T" (2nd photo). In other words, tuck your elbows down (arrow) instead of flaring them out (T), swipe to see the angle you should have your dumbbells at (3rd photo). This should be used in every pressing position (bench press, press up, chest press). . . If the front of your shoulders hurt while you're pressing, it's a sure sign you're flaring your elbows. No half reps ❌ Not shit form ❌ You will USE and BUILD more muscle using the full range of motion (ROM) and using good form. . This applies to every exercise you do, unless you have an injury/pain restricting your ROM. . Make sure your scapula is retracted the entire time, touch your chest to the floor and push all the way back up to lock out your elbows. . Even if it means having to do a variation, such as push ups on your knees. ⭐ Nothing is impossible for those who don't give up ⭐ Teaching is my main way of learning, in many different ways. Here is one. Last night, after teaching the last 2 classes of the day, I came back home and started thinking about what to include in the Sunday workshop on "inversions & press up". So I started playing and... I ended up in my very first ever straddle handstand press up with straight legs!!! I first tried with the blocks (see second video) and - to my surprise - I could do it 🤗 So, after a few ones, I decided to give it a go without. See the result in the first video!! 😁🙃🤸🏻‍♀️🎉🎊 I was so excited that I did it more than 10 times in a row 😁😂 Honestly, this is not in my regular practice. I work seriously on handstand on average once a month when we have the handstand course at the shala (next one on Saturday November 9!!) and though I love to be upside down, I'm not an "handstand freak". My regular ashtanga practice is what I do, over and over, and that's what has brought me here and now. Practice, practice, practice. И «с банановым прогибом», и с «коротким животом». ⠀ И во всех случаях я не падаю! И много кто не падает. Поэтому до сих пор и существует скепсис на тему «а зачем учить ровную стойку, если я и так стою?» ⠀ И если честно, я могу сказать, что коли вам самим так удобно, а в ваших планах выполнение стойки лишь наедине с собой дома, на абсолютно ровном ламинате - просто стойте, как нравится. ⠀ Но если ваша цель 🎯: ▪️стоять на руках на неровных поверхностях или даже на других руках; ▪️делать стойку при любом настроении, любой силе ветра, любой одежде и окружении (даже в окружении любопытных болтливых китайцев😅); ▪️прыгать, аккуратно вставать на руки в потном зале, переполненном коллегами практикующими, без страха на них упасть; ▪️никогда не знать, что такое компрессия в поясничном отделе позвоночника, луче-запястных и локтевых суставах ▪️и ГЛАВНОЕ, перестать беспричинно падать и начать стоять УСТОЙЧИВО, то... ⠀ Вам нужна ТЕХНИКА! Сложно бывает признать, что стояние на руках-это отдельная маленькая вселенная, со своими правилами, руководствами и законами. Столько разных асан, а эту почему-то так выделяют. ⠀ Но просто именно эта поза и входы в неё будут показателями вашей работы в других, как силовых, так и гибкостных асанах. И если филонить где-то в одном, стойка, как лакмусовая бумажка, ваши ошибки на себе отпечатает.

Easy it wasn’t . Hard press-up variation with 10 kg strapped to midline , and extra 3 kg attached to leg in ankle weights and mini dumbbell.
