when we started @opengoalproject four years ago, we were working to integrate young players from families with lesser resources in our community into the pay-to-play travel soccer landscape they’d never been exposed to. through our work and our original group of high school aged players, we realized that the young men and women we worked with had already seen their on-field development stunted because they hadn’t received the high-level coaching needed at a young age to harness their natural talent and reach their full potential as they continued to grow with the game.
that’s why we’ve launched our fully-funded club, DCFC, which debuted this past Sunday night, and why we’ve brought in licensed, professional coaches to lead our club and provide consistent, ongoing training sessions in our community. one of those coaches is Mohan, who holds a USSF “B” license, and has deep ties to Open Goal Project’s beginnings. in 2017, Mohan coached Precious on her first travel team, and in 2016, Mohan coached Ariana on a team that won the Virginia State Cup.
by bringing in Mohan and giving our players the training and competitive, challenging environment they need to improve, we believe the sky’s the limit for them as players, for DCFC as a club, and for our mission as a whole.
even the field, change the game: thank you for helping open goals.
