🎄 Day 4 of #12daysofvinyl ~ "O Holy Night" ~ The Holy Grail(s) of Your Collection ❄ swipe through for more pictures!
With this challenge, at first I really didn't know what to choose. I never thought I had any "grails" in the sense that the term is usually used. However, I thought about it in 3 separate ways, and in the end chose 3 different albums.
1. I chose Brand New's 'The Devil and God are Raging Inside Me' because it's a more emotional grail. It was actually the very first colored vinyl I ever bought, and it's what really got me started on the hobby that I love so much. Not only that, but the album has remained very important to me in many ways. It was near and dear to my heart during some rough times in my life years ago, and that connection still sticks with me to this day. Not only that, but I believe this remains one of the band's best efforts, and one of the best albums in the entire genre.
2. So, I feel like this release of 'Hit Vibes' by Saint Pepsi is a "people REALLY want this, and I have it!" type of grail. I purchased this mostly on a whim when it was released, it seemed to coincide with my growing interest in the vaporwave genre at the time. I never expected it to become this sort of legend within the community, though. Apparently not very many copies were released to meet the demand for it, it remains very sought after and seems to sell for quite a lot of money when being put on the market.
3. I'll just say that the last one, 'Endless' by Frank Ocean, is in my "I spent too much money on this one" grail section. I missed out on its initial release, so when everyone started getting their copies and it started being sold on the market, I did what I typically don't do and jumped on it despite the price.
